North Carolina Stage Company, Asheville’s professional theatre, has created a gallery space in the lobby of its downtown Asheville theatre. The inaugural show is called “Vice & Virtue,” and is inspired by the themes of Macbeth, running concurrently at NC Stage. “Vice & Virtue” runs October 17 – December 7, 2007 (Macbeth closes November 4). The show features painting, photography, pen and ink drawings and mixed media art from local artists.
The artist reception for “Vice & Virtue” is Thursday October 18th, 6:00- 7:30. The show includes pieces from local artists Kerry Bober, Paul Jackson, Jen Lepkowski, Dean Lettenstrom, Mary Lounsbury, David McRary, Ron Ogle, and Shirl Sazynski.
NC Stage kicks off the (For)Play Series with Angels in America: Millennium Approaches, by Tony Kushner, November 5 – 11. This Pulitzer Prize -winning play deals with love, loss, and divine intervention in the close of the 20th Century. The special one-week event features a discussion with WNC AIDS Project, open rehearsals, and three readings featuring a cast of professional actors.
