Driving Miss Daisy
By Alfred Uhry
Directed by Angie Flynn-McIver
Elderly Atlanta matron Daisy Werthan may be too old to drive, but she is too fiercely independent to want a chauffeur. Nevertheless, her son hires Hoke Coleburn, and an unlikely friendship is born that will span decades and cross lines of race, class and gender. Beginning in 1948 and continuing through the Civil Right movement, this beautifully spare play is a masterful depiction of the quiet power of human connection. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize.
